The Shooting Show’s news reader Ruth Burgess has stepped out from behind the desk and swapped microphone for rifle as we take her on a stag stalk in the Scottish Highlands. It’s going to be a classic hill-stalking affair, with some, er, typical Scottish weather to welcome her. And the deer aren’t behaving either: after a few blanks, time is running out, but Ruth is a true stalker and isn’t about to give up.
Meanwhile, legendary foxer Robert Bucknell has some hot new gear on his hands. Literally – it’s a thermal imager from Pulsar. Teaming it up with a Yukon Photon NV unit and Night Master torch, he unleashes this array of high-tech kit on his local fox population.
