The Shooting Show – Chinese water deer stalking and Anschütz 1517 on test

First, a top stalk we’ve kept in the bag since the Chinese water deer season earlier this year. We’re in the heart of CWD territory in Bedfordshire – and presenter Pete Carr turns professional stalker, as he guides executive producer Wes Stanton over snow-covered terrain in search of a buck. Conditions are far from perfect, with the white ground threatening to show up even the slightest movement – but several false starts later, Wes finally gets his chance.

Fast forward to today, and Byron Pace turns his eyes to a .17 HMR for the Shooting Show’s first ever rimfire review. The rifle in question is the Anschütz 1517, a top-end option built on the Match 64 action. Byron soon delivers his verdict, as well as delivering quite a few rounds down the range.
