We rejoin Orion Hunting Tours’ Byron Pace in the Winterberg mountains, this week pursuing bushpig and warthog. The dense bush is among the most challenging terrains in the world to hunt — and it’s even too unforgiving for the camera to follow the action. So it’s on with the head-mounted camera for an up-close-and-personal view of a tense hunt for an elusive quarry that could easily turn aggressive.
On home turf, Byron gets his hands on the new Sako A7. With a price between that of the workhorse Tikka T3 and the higher-end Sako 85, its an attractive proposition — but which of those two rifles does it resemble the most? And more importantly, how does it shoot?
