It’s the second instalment of Gary Green’s trip to the Orkneys, as the Essex boy swaps his comfortable fox box for a morning’s wildfowling. This time Gary and guide Magnus head to a flight pond to shoot geese over decoys. But the weather is unseasonable even for this part of the world, and the birds’ usual flight paths have been disrupted. There’s the chance of some good shooting if their luck can hold.
Closer to the border, David Virtue leads his team on a mixed shoot for ducks, geese and even snipe. With mixed tactics involved, including decoying and walking up, there’s a chance for some wildfowling action of all kinds.
