The Shooting Show – stubble pigeons and Irish deer

The crops are off, and Byron Pace makes the most of the opportunity to sort out the local pigeon population on the stubbles. But he’s happy to take a supporting role in this week’s sporting story, as his shooting buddy Edan Annand and friend Stuart take centre stage. Setting up the hide on the edge of a freshly cut rape field, they’re perfectly placed to get big numbers in the bag.

Over at Ireland’s Birr Castle Game Fair, we secure an interview with David Dunne, chairman of the Wild Deer Association of Ireland. He gives us the inside track on what the Wild Deer Association stands for and what it is doing to combat poaching in the Emerald Isle – and on what his personal preferences of knife, rifle and stalking quarry are.
