The Shooting Show – high-tech foxing and the Walther CP99

First up, it’s a hard day’s night for Edan Annand and his fox-shooting crew as they go after Charlie in the daytime and again after nightfall in a 24-hour foxing extravaganza. Helping them out is some of the most high-tech kit we could get our hands on: a Pulsar Digisight N750 with Nightmaster 800 IR illuminator, and Pulsar Quantum thermal imager. Not to mention the Swarovski scopes, Geco ammo, rangefinding binos… they’re truly kitted out to the nines. All we have to do his hope the foxes show up – but on the rolling terrain of Scotland’s west coast that’s never a guarantee.

Meanwhile, Airgun Shooter magazine’s Nigel Allen has a replica on his hands that’s as fun as the real thing: the Walther CP99, a CO2 pistol based on the Walther P99. Training the pistol’s sights on a number of targets, he explains how the CP99 has something for everyone from casual shooters to serious target fanatics – and is a whole lot of fun besides.
