The Shooting Show – Scottish roebuck and the Beretta 486

First, we’re back out at the UK’s premier stalking species as Byron takes Sporting Rifle magazine’s Nick Latus out after roebuck on Byron’s home turf in Angus. Sound population management is key here, and Byron and Nick have to endure an agonisingly long wait to find the right buck before they can even start to stalk into it. Two stalks and two farms later, their luck finally changes and the boys get the chance to discuss shot placement, cull buck selection – and, of course, get some spot-on shooting footage on camera.

South of the border, fresh from its launch at Chatsworth in Derbyshire is the Beretta 486 Parallelo. We checked it out at the weekend – and so did the greats of the shooting press from across Europe on a full-day driven game shoot. Can the Italians make a side-by-side to compete with the best British guns? Find out how it shot and what the journalists had to say about it.
